Blogging is a great way to share your learning 24/7. You can blog from home, from class, from anywhere you have access to the internet. Blogging allows all the members of your group to share their thoughts and opinions openly which is great because sometimes some of you are shy to speak up in class. Also, blogging allows others around the world to have a chance to see what deep thinkers you are! Now that you have had some practice with blogging, I would like all of you think about sharing some quotes from the novel that are meaningful to you. Smurfette, Waffleman, and Percy have already done this. You can check out their quotes and comments on the bottom of the first blog. I would like you all to share a quote that really made you think. Give a detailed reason for why you chose it. Make it a goal to leave at least three sentences about your quote. As a reader, can you add some ideas to the quotes of others? Alternatively, you might start by asking a DEEP THINKING question. Here is an example that I will contribute: Why do you think Tessa said that “keep your hands to yourself, please” was the phrase every girl learned first when they started working with Mr. Moscovitz? I think it means that he wants more from the girls than just their skill at making flowers. I think the girls have to tell him to keep his hands to himself so that he doesn't think that they will let him rape them. The girls really need the job to survive, but they shouldn't let him take advantage of them that way. I guess once they tell him to stay away he doesn't try to hurt them any more. There were many dangers in work places at that time. They didn't have many of the safety measures that we all take for granted today e.g. laws against physical abuse, escape routes, even bathrooms! One last thing - edit before publishing. We want to show our best, most professional thinking which means each post should have few, if any, mistakes.
